Betts Hydraulic Pump

The Betts Hydraulic Pump HP19165MS has been designed to provide a trouble-free, easily maintained pump for use with any Betts hydraulic operated valve.  The Pump is made of cast iron, has a stainless steel piston, replaceable release valve seat and an internal pressure relief valve set to bypass at approx. 3000 PSI.

Installation Instructions

  1. Mount pump in desired location allowing sufficient space to move release valve handle, which is located next to the piston, in a clockwise motion.
  2. Remove 1/4 NPT plastic plug from discharge port located in fornt of pump and connect hydraulic line.  Pump comes filled with hydraulic fluid so some leakage may occur when making this connection.
  3. Remove 3/8 NPT plastic plug located next to the piston.  This port is used when adding hydraulic fluid to the reservoir and also provides access to make adjustments to the pressure relief bypass valve if necessary.
  4. Un-loosen last fitting in line to each valve.  Move release valve handle clockwise until it is seated.  Operate pump until all air is purged from the hydraulic lines.  If necessary, refill pump reservoir with a good grade of hydraulic fluid.  Tighten all fittings.
  5. Operate pump until pressure relief valve bypasses.  This should be at approx. 3000 PSI.  If adjustment is needed to the pressure relief valve, insert 7/32 allen wrench through filler port into top of pressure relief valve.  Turning clockwise will increase the set pressure while a counterclockwise turn will decrease the set pressure.
  6. Install breather plug in the filler port.  This is the metal plug with an oring furnished with each pump.  This plug allows the reservoir to breath thus permitting use of a larger volume of the hydraulic fluid.  Pump is now ready for use.
  7. Operate pump a few times, each time releasing pressure by turning release valve handle counterclockwise.  Check all fittings for leaks.  System is now ready for use.
